It skipped all over the place and you didn't know where you were or who was talking/thinking until you read a few sentences, flipped back a page or two, then flipped forward again. This happened A LOT; changes in story and people with only a paragraph break. Don't know why she did that; there were actual chapter breaks here and there but these paragraph changes drove me crazy.
Gilley skipped so far from Colin's introduction to his goodbye that I had to scan back many, many pages to remind myself who Colin was. This drove me crazy! I read somewhere Gilley said this was a "gift: for her fans... a gift that WE PAY $2.00 for... what suckers we are but I'll be clicking away when 'Smoke' comes out!
The only interesting parts were meeting Mercy's half-brother, twice the Mercy - twice the fun; and Aidan's wreck... tho, again, she skipped SO MANY pages from the time it happened to the time we read about the results, that it almost ruined the entire story.
There were some things in here we needed to know... but the way it was presented was a pain to try and read!

I really love this series. This novella is such a good read after Michael and Holly's book. It gives us more of a view into the rest of the club members and their lives of the characters which stories are yet to come. I'm so freaking excited. Tango, Aiden and Mercy are so freaking interesting. Mercy still has my heart. The love between Ava and him.... wow. It's intense as always.

An th MC romance fans must read this series. It's complex yet so beautiful
I read book 1 & 2 of this series such a long time ago and this novella was just what I needed to remember these characters. This book gives us a glimpse of the main Lean Dogs- Mercy, Aiden, Tango, Michael and Walsh and we get to catch up on all the old ladies as well. I forgot how much I loved this series. Can't wait to get started on the rest of these books.

Many authors would consider this a full-length novel but it is a novella for the brilliant Lauren Gilley! This is a great glimpse into the characters' lives that we already know and love and sets us up for more action to come but not in a cliffhanger sort of way but rather just a progression of everyone's lives. I thoroughly enjoyed it. This entire journey that Gilley has created is really not to be missed. Those who love action and adventure and violence with a HEA will be estatic with Gilley's writing!
I don't actually remember how I found the Dartmoor series, but I'm beyond happy that I did. I started with, Price of Angrls, then went back and read Fearless, (Mercy's book) and I have to say, these are some of the best novels I've read in a long time. There is so much attention to detail, and it feels like I'm actually there in Knoxville experiencing everything.

So in this novella, we catch up with Mercy, Ava, Michael, Holly, and the rest of the family, and I have to say, I was already intrigued by Tango, but now I REALLY want his book. Aidan's too. And definitely Ian's. There was so much, but so little revealed about them that I'm kind of desperate to read the next book.

Overall, I loved this installment in the Dartmoor saga and I'm eagerly awaiting The Skeleton Key.

I really love this series!! It is chock full of so many interesting characters, beautiful and tragic love stories and family relationships that are compelling and realistic in their portrayals.
The title is perfect...Mercy and Ava both deal with brothers and their issues that keep the family on edge but we also get a whole lot of stories based on other club members and their significant others.
If you read the first two books in the series you HAVE to read this connecting book as well and now I can't wait to dive into The Skeleton King!

I've noticed throughout this series A LOT of incorrect words used. Example; the word "walk" should have been "talk". "If" should have been "it". I'm not a grammar nazi. But if I notice this, others must have also.

As far as the series is concerned there are too many characters to keep straight and too much back and forth. Half a chapter would be over before I realized who was in play.

If there was a better editor this series would be 5 stars easily.
I have read complete novels that weren't half as good as this bridge novella to the Dartmoor series! Lauren Gilley really understands how to create an atmosphere for her stories that draws you in like a magnet. In this novella she gives us just enough story to wet our apetites for the upcoming Skeleton King. All of the characters are so developed that any one of them could easily make a complete novel. I have to say that Holly and Michael are my favorite, but I love all of them! I would like to read more about Maggie. Some more internal dialogue from her would be great. She and Ghost are really sexy and I would like to read more about their alone time. Tango, oh that poor guy, I'm almost afraid to read exactly what happened to him. I can only guess that it was horribly abusive and corrupt. Aidan, this sexy guy is finally seeing that he needs to grow up and become the man Ghost expects him to be and Samantha will definitely have a major role in that - can't wait to read more. Mercy and his brother Colin. I'm not completely sold on Colin but I know that if he messes up, Mercy will kick his a**. The Skeleton King - waiting impatiently!!
